Character Study of Andy For th essays
Character Study of Andy For th essays Andy was a great example of conversion. He really had goals and kept to them for years. He was a hard-determined person to achieve freedom. He was living a great life as a banker, and knew his profession well. He had everything going for him, except his true love. He had suspected his lover was cheating on him, and one day he caught her in the act. He went to get drunk and then came back with a gun. Bad thoughts came into his mind. He didnt follow through with this act, but someone else did. The situation showed that he had done it because of the brandy bottle with his fingerprints, he had the same kind of gun that matched the bullets used, and that it was a situation where he would be furious. The courts found him guilty and gave him a life sentence. After being sent to jail and being innocent, he first began to accept that he was in jail, and that there was no way to change it. After getting the rock pick and knocking the rock off the wall when he was trying to carve h is name, he realized that getting out was a possibility. This scene was the place where he had a major cross over. Then, he set out to gain his rightfully earned freedom. He finished off his crossing over when he realized with when he was sitting by the wall in the courtyard with Red. He said, You have to get busy living, or get busy dying. This scene made us think that he was going to hang himself, but instead he chose the road to living. I believe that Andy had some major new responses to life and himself. If he was never convicted, he would not of learned what he had learned. He found that it is a cruel world out there and he had it good. He had changed how he saw the world and people around him. He found out how to set serious goals, and keep up with them for years and years. In the real world as a banker, he most likely had everything provided for him with all the money he made. In prison, he had to learn how to get things...

E-learning - Essay Example University Senate Regulations: www2.le.ac.uk/offices/sas2/regulations/documents/2012-13/Senatereg11-discipline.pdf Unintended plagiarism as well as deliberate plagiarism will result in the award of a fail grade. In recent years, the proliferation of the latest technologies and easy access to a wide range of Internet tools, the lives of people has been changed significantly. Even the learning sector has been impacted due to the robust growth in the technological gadgets; it has revolutionised the learning and teaching areas of the field simultaneously (Conole et al., 2003). As a result, there is a surge in the demand of workforce which makes learning a part of their training and development agenda during the career growth (Newton & Ellis, 2005). In order to cultivate an E-learning culture within the organisation, it is mandatory for the management team to seek help from the professionals so that they can enhance the morale of the workforce (Wall & Ahmed, 2008). The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has been playing a dual role in the digital era. At one extreme, it is expected that the information oriented society in future will have to face various challenges. Likewise, these challenges ignited by the technology driven, knowledge intensive and dynamic working life will facilitate the lifelong and continuous competence development of the working people in various aspects of life (Tynjala & Hakkinen, 2005). On the other extreme, it is believed that ICT will assist in developing solutions for the posed challenges. The rapid changes in the field of E-learning have taken place due to evolution of the technologies which is also considered as a problem in this arena (Tynjala & Hakkinen, 2005). It is evident from the history of E-learning that there was dominance of the technology-driven approaches such as CAI (Computer-Aided Instructions), mobile learning, blended learning and distance learning; the basic learning process remains consistent just the

According to Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, who is God Essay
According to Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, who is God - Essay Example Un-astonishingly, these questions have been of sole interest not only for religious people but also for skeptic mythologists, which motivated the work of various researchers who further introduced varied perspectives to the issue. One of such perspectives was put forward by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger in his book ââ¬Å"Introduction to Christianityâ⬠. From ages, in different religions, in different communities as well as in different cultural clusters, God has been defined from varying perspectives, mostly being based on the beliefs rather than on the mythological facts or implied gestures. Hence, no single definition for God exists today. Christianity was also no exclusion from this particular aspect based on which, Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, in his book ââ¬ËIntroduction to Christianityââ¬â¢, expressed his opinions about God. According to him, God could not be categorized as something practical or just a theoretical conclusion. Rather, he stated that God is something subjec tive, who belongs to a private realm and not fundamentally in the common activities of public life. Based on this theory, Ratzinger argued that Christ was not God Himself, but the only son of God who dwells among people as a man bestowed with the responsibility to communicate the words of God within the public life.... In his words, ââ¬Å"In the formative period of the New Testament comes a completely unexpected event in which God shows himself from a hitherto unknown side: in Jesus Christ one meets a man who at the same time knows and professes himself to be the son of Godâ⬠¦The result is a curious paradox: on one hand, this man calls God his Fatherâ⬠¦But, on the other hand, he is himself the real proximity of God coming to meet usâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ (pp: 163) Hence, the emphasis of Ratzingerââ¬â¢s discussion advocated the concept of God to have fundamentally changed over time with the influence of continuous evaluations in relation to the presumptions and faith. However, in the realistic phenomenon, it values less for Christians whether to consider God as personal or impersonal as the mystery of God is supposed to be beyond all the concepts and images. Accordingly, he stressed that God is infinitely greater than any concept or image that people holds about God. From a critical perspective, he also stated that God is and will remain invisible for men. He also stated that God is a creator who directs and measures the actions of all human beings judging and setting limits and standards to guide humanity on an estimable pathway. From a rational viewpoint, he further emphasized that God himself is only a single being who certainly holds a distinct identity to the Christ. Correspondingly, based on religious faiths, he described God to be above all powers1. Considering the summarized perspective presented in Ratzinger (2004), Godââ¬â¢s remoteness from the world is behind the humble pragmatism and loss of Godââ¬â¢s connection with people is also regarded as a part of that realism. God is present inside all human beings. God in his mask approaches

Rhetorical Crtique Essay Example for Free
Rhetorical Crtique Essay On this rhetorical critique, I will be talking about the driving community of the state of Florida. As we all know, Florida is infamous for its terrible accidents. John Couwels and Vivian Kuo, journalists for CNN, prepared an article about the multi-car crash that occurred on January 29th,2012, where 11 people were killed and 46 others were injured. I chose this article because car accidents are a daily event in the state of Florida. However, the roads are spacious and for the most part, well designed. Florida drivers are being held accountable for the wreck due to their lack of safety precautions used while driving through a high fog/smoke area, caused by a nearby forest fire. This article is great for a project proposal; it addresses the drivers bad decision making when faced with cautious situations. The article named ââ¬Å"Florida Highway Patrol: Some drivers didnt slow before crashesâ⬠, explains that the Florida Highway Patrol prepared a traffic report holding the drivers of the crash, responsible for their actions by continuing to drive without headlights or warning signals, and without slowing down. The highway patrol quadrupled their staff on the road, and reported that conditions were clear enough to drive. Barely half an hour later, a car crash involving 25 vehicles closes the I-75 by gainesville. According to the report, drivers did not take the proper precautions assigned after fog and smoke warnings were placed on the road, causing more vehicles to smash into accidents that did not have enough time to be cleared from the road. This article informs us really well of a community problem. The authors use quotes from people who attended the scene giving a sense of complete reasoning or ââ¬Å"truthâ⬠over emotion. The article continues by saying that the highway patrol has already accepted different measures and policies to promote a more secure Florida through professional law enforcement and traffic safety awareness. The specific type of writing is quoted when witnesses or police officials are interviewed. The writing that is used in the article is useful for making the reader visualize the event through a witness eyes.

How do the two poets use Visual Description to contribute to their :: English Literature
How do the two poets use Visual Description to contribute to their Underlying Theme? - Keats and Hopkins in Hurrahing in harvest and To Autumn. How do the two poets use Visual Description to contribute to their Underlying Theme? There are many similarities between the descriptions of the two poets and probably the most obvious is that both of the poems refer to the seasons with Keats and Hopkins in 'Hurrahing in Harvest' and 'To Autumn' referring to autumn and Hopkins to spring in 'Spring'. Both of the poets use the these natural events (the seasons) to suggest their own underlying means even though they are different and they also use personification all throughout the poems to suggest their underlying mean and an example of this would be two titles of the poems 'Hurrahing in Harvest' and 'To Autumn' which both personify the seasons. However even though from a glance both of the poems look like they are suggesting similar things this is not true because if a closer look is taken it is clear that both of the poets use lots of description but that it is very different because looking at Hopkins poems he uses sort of riddles and an example of this would be in 'Hurrahing in Harvest' and this is shown in the following quote: Of silk-sack clouds! has wilder, willful-wavier Meal-drift moulded ever and melted across skies? Looking at the words highlighted in blue this is an Anglo Saxon riddles (a kenning) used to describe the clouds as if they were floating around in the sky and he used these riddles so that he did not have to use the exact words and he also wanted to use them as they were used in Anglo Saxon poems so that he did not have to use rhymes to make the poem flow and instead use alliterations to make it flow and there are many examples of the use of alliterations such as 'what wind-walks' in Hurrahing in Harvest and 'long and lovely and lush' and taking this as an example he uses asinations where he uses repeated vowel sounds to try and make the poem flow. However Keats does not use either asinations or alliterations to make the poem flow and he uses rhyme schemes to do this. Similar words are also used in the poems such as the word 'lambs' although they are superficial and have very minor similarities but the differences are great as Hopkins uses the words 'the racing lambs' to emphasize new life whereas Keats uses the words 'full-grown lambs' to suggest ending. There is also the use of the word 'bloom' however it How do the two poets use Visual Description to contribute to their :: English Literature How do the two poets use Visual Description to contribute to their Underlying Theme? - Keats and Hopkins in Hurrahing in harvest and To Autumn. Fast and Feast
Wednesday, I was appreciative and prayed like I said I would. When I found that I was appreciative I Just said a small thank you to God and I was proud of all the feasting that I had done. However, I found that even though I was appreciative I was still complaining. One of the things we, as Christians, are asked to do during Lent is make a sacrifice that will help us focus on resisting worldly distractions. Although complaining is not what you would normally think of as a worldly distraction such as TV or the computer, it still distracts me from God. During the first two days I realized that I had to balance my appreciation and complaining.I could not focus wholly on one or else I would forget about the other. On both Thursday and Friday of that week I tried my best to concentrate on both my feasting and fasting and learned by the end how to keep from complaining but also appreciate everything I am given and all the opportunities I have. One of these spoken opportunities was the chan ce to go on the Mid-night Run. It was very fitting that this was the last day of my five-day fasting/ feasting project because I feel like I was most appreciative during this day. All the people on the Mid-night Run went into NY City and handed out clothes and food to the homeless. At first I tried to be impartial to the whole matter because I did not want to cry in the middle of a city street. However, as the people started coming more and more I found myself feeling so sorry for them. I said a quick prayer in my head for them and that wherever they would sleep would be warm since it was so cold outside. What really affected me was when a small woman came over and asked If we had any underwear. This In particular blew my mind; I then realized how bad they must have It If a woman has to beg for underwear. Even though the five-day fasting/ feasting project is over I still try not to complain. When I do, I think of how fortunate I am in comparison to all those people out there who wish for half the life I have. Dying to ourselves, letting go of our own wants and needs, leaves us open to invite God in, to pay attention to something other than ourselves. This experience has made me more aware of all the joy that I deprived myself of. When I stopped myself from complaining, I realized how much better I felt. I felt as if I had made the whole situation better for myself and I did. When I stopped complaining, I subsequently stopped petty arguments and cruel or annoyed moods.Once I stopped I found yeses in a better mood altogether and I think It also rubbed off on the people around me. Overall, letting go of my own wants and needs, gave everyone an Improved attitude and allowed for more room to let God In. By not complaining I have a whole part of my life that essentially cut of. This part has now been filled with my appreciation and God. By separating myself from complaining I can turn to God and appreciative and happy I bring on that sense of fulfillment to other peop le. For Catholics, ââ¬Å"dying to ourselves, we enter some way or another into Chrism's dying and we rise to new life with Him as well. â⬠(TM p. 9) The new life I have been brought is one of acceptance and appreciation. As I moved through the week, I found that as I complained less, I became more and more relax as well. The complaining, when I was unable to stop myself, bothered me more than I think it bothered my parents. I found that I started to enjoy myself more as I accepted events around me. I knew I could not change that fact that it was cold outside so I accepted it for what it was and appreciated that I had clothes to keep me warm. By living this new life that was one of acceptance and appreciation I feel as if I have also opened up a new relationship tit God.I am closer to my ultimate vocation, union with God, after having been brought this new life through my fasting/feasting project. The overall purpose of Lent is to prepare for Easter and prepare to celebrate new life with the Resurrection. It is also a period of intense preparation for catchments to enter the church. During this preparation, Christians focus on living the Kingdom of God more intensely than they do during the rest of the year. This fasting is not only a literal fast from eating, but also a chance to make a sacrifice that will help us Ochs on resisting worldly distractions. This is self-discipline and also an opportunity to make more room for God and to move closer to him. When we fast together as a community, it is the whole church community opening themselves up to God together. My experience over the last five days has helped me live out the purpose of Lent by exposing me to the deeper meaning of the fast. Instead of Just giving up candy or chips, I have given up a part of my life that has only brought me down, and opened myself up to happiness, fulfillment, acceptance, appreciation, and a closer relationship with God.
